Last night I went down to Waikiki. Friday night is usually the most interesting night of the week. Magicians, musicians, church groups, artists and street performers: they're all out in abundance on Friday night. I spent quite a bit of time on the pier photographing boogie boarders since the waves were especially good and the sun was lighting up the water in unusual ways.

This week has been a busy one. I've had one photography show wrap up and a ceramics show start the next day in the gallery next door in Chinatown. I've celebrated a birthday and so have other friends and family members. We have family visiting from Washington state and just finished cooking breakfast for them (pancakes). I visited Ho'omaluhia Botanical Garden on my birthday because I heard a rare yellow heliconia regalis was in bloom, the only one I've ever seen. I've tried to take photos of this plant for years but always showed up when it was nice and brown.
I was part of a ceramics exhibit at Louis Pohl Gallery. After an hour at the gallery, I began walking the streets in search of interesting situations. As usual, I found some.
I visited the Kailua Farmers Market on Thursday evening and also walked around Kailua Town for a bit taking photos.
I stopped in Kaimuki for lunch at Koko Head Cafe and decided to take a few photos around the area. The place is packed with many of the best restaurants on Oahu.
I've been to Waikiki a couple of times this week and have combined the photos I took in one place. I'm also including a few photos I took along the way as well. The second time I went to Waikiki, I spent the whole morning in the residential community on the Diamond Head side. The area is densely packed with old bungalows and modern mansions.
I went with my family to Kailua Beach this morning. Beautiful weather at the beach which had a steady breeze.
