Hawaii has lots of strange combinations and Cinco de Mayo in Chinatown is one of them. Cinco de Mayo, the "Fifth of May," celebrates the victory of the Mexican army over a much larger French army at the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862. Over the years it's become a celebration of beer, food, music, dance, and beer. Every year the City of Honolulu shuts down several blocks in Chinatown for their Cinco de Mayo celebration. Below are photos I took yesterday.
